He is also an accomplished singer. Now, that’s range!
From commercials to e-learning programs to documentaries, Mario’s voiceover talent demonstrates great flexibility and range. He is also an editor’s dream, as he has an uncanny ability to maintain consistency throughout long projects.
With his ready access to state-of-the-art recording facilities, Mario is able to work remotely for clients all over the world. Located in the Madison, Wisconsin area, he also is available for on-site voice over recording.
Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mario has called Wisconsin home for nearly 25 years. From a young age, Mario trained to become an entertainer and performer. As a child he studied piano and guitar with some of the best classical musicians of Puerto Rico. By the time he was a teenager, however, Mario knew that he liked to rock! He played in his fair share of garage rock bands during high school.
Having grown up in Puerto Rico, he credits the strict American Catholic nuns that ruled his grade school and Cable television with his having picked up American English slang at a relatively young age. His exposure to American television via cable TV began a lifelong fascination with commercials and announcer voices . . . a world he was bound and determined to inhabit.
Mario moved to Madison, Wisconsin to pursue a higher education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He earned Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, followed by a Juris Doctor degree. While he was busy practicing law, Mario became the lead singer of some of the best Latin bands in the Midwest, recorded several albums and toured in the US, Europe and Mexico. At the same time, Mario started getting noticed, not only for his singing voice, but for his speaking voice.
As a bilingual professional and attorney, Mario is keenly focused on language, the meaning of words, and how the spoken word can best convey tone, mood and intention. Over the last decade, he has lent his voice to hundreds of projects including: radio and TV commercials, documentaries (including for the Discovery Channel), corporate videos, e-learning programs, public service announcements and standardized testing programs.
